Rusty Ferrari 250 GTE put on auction

Some say a Ferrari will never loose its value and we generally agree with it. But what happens when the Ferrari is all cover in rust? Bonhams has put on auction a 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE that hasn’t been driven since 1975. Imagine all the rust in there! In fact the car needs a restore session of about £100,000 - about $150,000 at the current exchange rates. Still, Bonhams hopes to sell the car for about £60,000 - about $94,000. A bargain, no?

Once featuring a very cool silver paint, this 250 GTE has a very interesting history: in 1963 it was bought by an Eva Michelson and imported from Rome to UK. Four years later she sold it to her doctor, Hector Anderson and passed as an inheritance to his daughter. Since then the car is waiting in a garage in Kent. And now hopes to make a come-back to the real life.

Bonhams said: "He only drove it for seven or eight years and it was last roadworthy in 1975. Because of this it only has 49,000 miles on the clock... Now she has taken the decision to sell the car in the hope a Ferrari enthusiast will be able to appreciate its potential and bring it back to life."

So question is: are you that Ferrari enthusiast?

Jeep doesn’t usually make the kind of attention-grabbing headlines in Europe the way it does in the States. But now that the company is slowly establishing its footing across the pond, it looks like their set to use the 2012 Geneva Motor Show as the perfect place to make a sparkling first impression.

All in all, Jeep is bringing three "production-intent" concept vehicles to Geneva. We’ve already touched on the Compass Black Look Concept and the Wrangler Mountain Edition. Now, we turn our attention towards the Grand Cherokee Sports Concept

Just like Compass Black Look Concept, the Grand Cherokee Sports Concept comes dressed with plenty of aesthetic modifications, including a a gloss black accent on the headlamp bezels, grille surround, tinted rear passenger windows, a lift gate light-bar, and roof molding covers that have taken the place of the roof rack. There’s also a new mesh grille, a lower bumper fascia appliqué in Platinum Chrome, black chrome dual exhaust tips, and a new set of 20" aluminum wheels. Inside, special features include Nappa leather and suede seats, a heated leather steering wheel, carbon fiber trim pieces on the instrument panel and door trim panels, and bright brake and accelerator pedals.

No performance modifications were given to the special edition Grand Cherokee, which means that you can expect it to carry a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine with Fiat’s Multijet II technology, one that produces producing 241 horsepower and 406 lb/ft of torque and mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select (ERS).

Earlier this year Mercedes has unveiled the new generation SL-Class and today is time to finally see the most powerful model in the series: the SL63 AMG. While no official details have been revealed just yet, Mercedes has offered a sneak peak on the car during the official launch on the new Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W03 race car in Spain.

As expect the SL 63 AMG looks more aggressive than the standard SL-Class thanks to its a deeper front bumper with larger air intakes, the usual AMG LED daytime running lights sitting inside the bumper, "V8 Biturbo" badges, a subtle rear deck spoiler and of course the four trapezoidal-shaped chromed tailpipes.

Under the hood the new SL63 AMG has received the same twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 engine already used in models like CLS 63 AMG, tuned to deliver a total of 529 HP. Thanks to the all-aluminum bodyshell and assorted magnesium components the new sports car is about 240 lbs lighter than its predecessor and of course a little bit faster: it sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. In the same time Mercedes has promised that the fuel economy has been improved by 30%.

Official details will be unveiled tomorrow, so stay tuned!

There are no shortages of concept cars and special edition models that are scheduled to be introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

One particular model that’s been penciled in to make its debut at Geneva is the Jeep Wrangler Mountain Edition, a special edition 4WD all-utility ride that boasts of a paint finish called "Geecko" and carries a massive V6 under its hood.

Built as a special edition model that definitely caters to a specific kind of market, the Wrangler Mountain Edition features other unique styling cues, including a black decal on the hood, a Mineral Gray front grille, and a choice of other paint finishes. Heck, if "Geecko" doesn’t suit your style, you can opt for more conservative hues like Back, Bright White, Dozer - we actually don’t know what Dozer is - and Black Forrest Green. The Wrangler Mountain Edition also sits on a new set of 17" high-gloss Mineral Gray wheels while also having fabric seats on the interior with Slate Grey stitching and an embroidered ’Mountain logo’.

Under its hood, the Wrangler Mountain Edition comes with a choice of different powertrains, highlighted by a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine that produces 284 horsepower and 256 lb/ft of torque mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. For a more efficient option, the Wrangler Mountain Edition also gets a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine that produces 200 horsepower and 340 lb/ft of torque mated to the same transmission system.

Audi RS5

The Audi RS5 is headed to the US market, that much we already know, but in order to prepare it for its trip, Audi has decided to give it a little refresher. The 2012 Audi RS5 will be headed to our side of the pond with a few exterior modifications and an updated interior, but power will still come from the sports coupe’s V8 engine.

The facelift isn’t all that surprising considering the RS5’s slower brethren - the Audi A5 - received its own little modifications for the 2012 model year.

The facelifted RS5 has received several new, sharp accents to clean up its look, although at first glance, these changes may not be so obvious. The two that stand out the most are the new single-frame grille with beveled upper corners and standard xenon plus headlights with a more modern shape, framed by narrow strips of LED daytime running lights. Inside the RS5, Audi has dropped in race-style front seats.

The bells and whistles of the exterior and interior just about cover the minor facelift provided for the RS5. In terms of power, the sports coupe will be enjoying the fruits of the standard 4.2 liter V8 engine’s labor, delivering a total of 450 HP at 8,250 rpm and a peak torque of 317.15 lb-ft available between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in 4.6 seconds, while top speed can be increased to 174 mph, upon request.

UPDATE 02/14/12: Audi has released a new driving video of the RS5 as it tackles the dessert road with some pretty intense music blasting off in the background. The RS5 is far from the R8 in terms of power and speed, but this music video just made us crave for the RS5 even more. Check it out by clicking the photo above!

UPDATE 02/20/12: After the desert it is now time to watch the new RS5 drifting on snow. Audi has put the new quattro all-wheel drive system testing on some frozen surfaces. Enjoy!

At the end of last year BMW has unveiled the new generation 3-Series, but only in the sedan version. As usual the station wagon model was set to be unveiled a few months later. And today we have the proof for you that the official launch date is getting closer: the future BMW 3-Series Station Wagon has been caught testing in very little cammo, just hiding parts of the rear.

As expected the station wagon version will be featuring the same design language as the sedan model, of course with an extended rear for a better cargo room. Up front the model will be featuring the now famous BMW kidney grille, two larger intakes and of course new LED accent lights positioned like eyebrows above the striking twin headlights. The interior will offer more room for the rear passenger, but also lots of cargo space.

The engine line-up will also be identical: a choice of four engines - two petrol and two diesel with power ranging from 163 HP to 306 HP.

Expect to see the new BMW 3-Series Station Wagon in the upcoming months.

Next month at the Geneva Motor Show Kia will bring the new generation C’eed - a model that comes with a totally redesigned exterior. But the small hatch is not the only model to receive such a treatment. The upcoming Sorento has been caught testing for the first time, and even if highly camouflaged, you can easily notice that it will receive a mid-life refresh with design elements similar to the ones found in the new C’eed.

Hidden deep under the camouflage you can spot new designed headlights with LED day driving lights as well as new front bumper. With the amount of camouflage at the back we can expect some changes there as well such a new rear lights and bumper.

This car was testing together with an Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK, meaning that Kia it might also update the interior to make the Sorento a more appropriate competitor for this high-class models.

Expect to see the new Kia Sorento by the end of the year.
